Here are some key steps to manage the privacy and security of your Instagram account:

  1. Private Account:
    • Switch your account to private. This ensures that your content is visible only to approved followers, and you have control over who can follow you.
    • To do this, go to your profile, tap Settings, then Privacy, and enable Private Account.
  2. Location Sharing:
    • To manage location sharing:
      • On iOS: Go to Settings & Privacy, then Privacy & Security, and tap Location Services. Scroll down to select Instagram and choose your preferred location tracking option.
      • On Android: Access your device’s settings, find Apps, select Instagram, and adjust location permissions.
  3. Post Privacy:
    • Customize who can see your posts by adjusting the audience for each post. You can choose from PublicFollowers, or Close Friends.
  4. Data Sharing and Ad Preferences:
    • Explore the Ad Preferences section to tailor your ad experience. You can hide ads that aren’t relevant to you.
    • Review your data sharing settings and adjust them as needed.
  5. Profile Visibility:
    • Set visibility for different profile elements. You can control who sees your bio, followers, and following lists.
  6. Friend Requests:
    • Manage who can send you friend requests. You can limit requests to people you follow or open them up to everyone.
  7. Account Security:
    • Enable two-factor authentication for added security.
    • Regularly review your account activity and remove any suspicious followers.
