🛰️ Part 1: Set Up Find My Mac (Find My Device)

The Find My feature lets you locate, lock, or erase your Mac remotely if it’s lost or stolen.

✅ Steps to Enable Find My Mac:

  1. Open System Settings

    • On macOS Ventura or later, click the Apple menu  > System Settings.

    • On older macOS versions, go to System Preferences.

  2. Click on Your Apple ID (at the top of the sidebar).
    Make sure you’re signed in with your iCloud account.

  3. Select iCloud > Find My Mac

  4. Turn On Find My Mac

    • Toggle the switch On.

    • You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password.

  5. Enable “Find My network” (Optional but recommended)
    This helps locate your Mac even when it’s offline or in sleep mode using other Apple devices nearby.

  6. Enable Location Services

    • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.

    • Make sure Location Services is turned On, and Find My is allowed.


🧑‍💻 Part 2: Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for Apple ID

2FA adds an extra layer of security to your Apple ID. Even if someone gets your password, they can’t access your account without a code sent to one of your trusted devices.

✅ Steps to Enable 2FA on MacBook:

  1. Go to System Settings > Apple ID

    • Click your name in the sidebar.

  2. Click ‘Password & Security’

  3. Look for ‘Two-Factor Authentication’

    • If it says “On,” you’re all set.

    • If it says “Off,” click Turn On.

  4. Add a Trusted Phone Number

    • You’ll be prompted to add a phone number where you’ll receive verification codes (via SMS or call).

  5. Verify Your Number

    • Enter the code sent to your number to complete setup.
