Instagram is fun — but by default, it can reveal a lot more than you think. If you care about your privacy, take 5 minutes to review these essential settings and take control of what you share.
Why it matters: Only approved followers can see your posts and stories.
How to do it:
Go to Settings → Privacy → Account Privacy
✅ Turn on Private Account
Why it matters: Avoid spam or unwanted tags in posts and photos.
How to do it:Settings → Privacy → Posts → Tagged Posts
✅ Set to Manually approve tags
Why it matters: Limits who can send you DMs, especially from strangers or unknown users.
How to do it:Settings → Privacy → Messages
✅ Choose “Don’t receive requests” from unknown people or “Only people you follow”
Why it matters: Prevents Instagram from tagging your exact location in posts or stories.
How to do it:
Disable location permissions in your phone’s settings under the Instagram app.
Why it matters: Stops others from seeing when you were last active on the app.
How to do it:Settings → Privacy → Activity Status
✅ Turn off Show Activity Status
Why it matters: Keeps your profile safe from stalkers, bullies, or spam accounts.

Go to their profile → Tap the three dots (…) → Restrict or Block
